Ukrainian base player Rodion Sun Lion will perform a benefit concert for Ukraine with his musical friends from Prague – top jazz musician Marcel Barta and singer  Hana Varadzinova.

Don’t expect classic jazz, but a colorful mix of several musical genres and a jazz approach to musical improvisation. A part of the concert program consists of a transformed folk songs from the territory of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains of Slovakia and Ukraine. Other part consists of Rodion Sun Lion’s new solo album compositions that will be premiered.

The program was created in cooperation with the international theater company Farma v jeskyni and the contemporary art center DOX Prague. It premiered in Gulliver’s airship at DOX.

Symbolically, we will remember the sad anniversary of the war. “We do not forget our friends who continue to suffer because of Russian aggression. We donate the proceeds to the NGO Ukrainian House Zilina, in which Ukrainians living in Zilina help their compatriots,” said Robert Blasko from Nova Synagoga.
The creation of the Rodion Sun Lion’s new solo album was supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council and by cultural center Nova synagoga Zilina.
